First Boys' game has a "Bonus" shift
It was the first game of the year for the boys team with the Bulls and Thunder squads playing this afternoon against Brighouse. It didn't start out very well. We got some chances, but missed a lot of shots. Being much taller than our opponents (who we play again next Wednesday) we had lots of opportunities to rebound our missed shots and shoot again. And again. And again. Until we lost the ball out of bounds. The second half was much better as we started passing more and getting out and fast-breaking a little bit giving people like Rahul, Matt P. Terry and even James some fast break lay-ups at the other end.
And then Marcus stole the ball. In this blogger's opinion, it was the play of the game. I had been trying to tell everyone that if they held the ball out there for you to grab you should just take it. Well, Marcus listened. When asked about it in the car ride home after the game, Marcus said: "It was easy!" I agree Marcus. If they hold it out there for you boys, take it! Then you get to go make a lay-up.
Anyway, we got stronger as the game went on and scored a few baskets in what we thought was the last shift to make the final score 25-15 for Thompson. But wait! Brighouse thought that there was still 1 more shift to play, so we went back out there for more. The crowd loved it too. The final final score was then 29-18 (still) for Thompson.
Keep up the great work and don't forget about practice tomorrow morning (we still have a few things to work on).

Thompson Girls Vs. Spul'u'kwuks
The Thompson Tigers fell just short of a win in their first away game against Spul'u'kwuks on Tuesday night. The team travelled through the rain to compete in the game against the rival school.
In the first half of the game, the Tigers buckled under the pressure of their first time out and allowed 22 points by the Spul'u'kwuks Eagles. Anastasia G., Alexa T., and Klara M. all scored baskets in the first half of the game as many were trying to find their groove.
At the half time buzzer, Mr. Out sat the girls down and gave them a much needed pep talk. "Rebound, Rebound Rebound," was the new strategy for the second half, and boy did it pay off.
Spul'u'kwuks was held to only 2 baskets in the second half as the Tigers made their late game attack. Unfortunately, it was a little too late, and as the final buzzer rang out the Tigers were still down by 8 points. Great defending and sportsmanship were shown by all the players and Thompson Tiger fans, who showed up in droves to roar on their fellow classmates.
The girls' next opponent is against Ferris Elementary on February 1st, previous home of both Mr. Out and Mr. Rollins.

Boys squads for when we play Spul'u'kwuks
When we play agains Spul'u'kwuks (3 games- 2 home/1 away) they have a grade 6 team and a separate grade 7 team. That means we will split our roster up differently when we play them. Our grade 6's versus their grade 6's and our grade 7's versus theirs (Please note the correct usage of the word versus-it's not a verb!)
Note also that because we only have 7 grade 6's we need a couple of extra grade 7's to fill in to give us enough to field a team
