Boys Vs Blair

The boys "travelled" (you know, because there was a lot of travelling going on in this game) to The Dragon's Lair for this one and it turned out to be a great game. Thompson was up by a score of 18-0 before Blair got their first basket. Zack scored his first basket of the game in the second half and strong games overall by Bryce, Kevin and Keaton led us to a 41-25 victory.

Close game vs Spul'u'kwuks

Well, you win some and you lose some... After winning by 1 point against Ferris earlier this week, the exact opposite happened against the grade 7 group from Spul'u'kwuks. We lost by 1 point this time. We were playing well until the last 2 shifts when the tall players from Spul'u'kwuks started to take over this game. They have beaten us both times this year, but we will get to play them again at the Burnett tournament.

Girls basketball game against McKay

Yesterday, the girls had a game against McKay. AND THEY ROCKED IT! The score was 24-15.  The girls really did an awesome job. This was their second victory so far out of the six games they have played. The game was very exciting. Anastasia again was our superstar! Always putting herself out there trying to get some baskets for the team. Another amazing thing that happen during the game was that Amber shot her first basket! We were all so happy for her. I think the girls did an amazing job this game and they always have. McKay was a very pleasant school to compete against. Great job girls!

Boys vs Ferris (the Rematch)

Today was one of the most intense games so far; it was a rematch against the Ferris Falcons. The other team managed to move around our defense, and scored a few baskets in the beginning. We immediately caught up and made it a very close game. Ferris scored first with a nice lay-up. There were a few fouls, luckily Bryce scored most of the free throws. After the first half the game the score was Thompson 19 and Ferris 18. It was a very close game, as Thompson would score and then Ferris would score. There was one sequence where Thompson got 5 or 6 offensive rebounds in a row; great job on the glass by Zack and Tate. The next couple of shifts went really well, with Jeffrey, Shakur, Vincent and a few other people driving in and making several nice baskets. There were also a lot of terrific passes. The last shift was the most intense with the back and forth baskets. Wilson made the last basket for Thompson making it a win for the Tigers. Ferris would have won, but their last shot was canceled as it was supposed to be a foul for Thompson. Leaving the final score as 35-34. Fantastic Game! GO TIGERS !!!

Who is Jeremy Lin?

Well, he attended Harvard. Not too many NBA players have done that. He's also the first American born player to be of Chinese or Taiwanese descent. He was not drafted after college but did sign a contract with his hometown Golden State Warriors. He was then cut and then cut again earlier this year, before recently making a splash with the NY Knicks.

Here are his first 5 games as a starter there (he plays the Point Guard Position)

Thompson vs Ferris

Mr. Rollins goes back to Ferris (where he taught for the past 2 years) and there were lots of fans in attendance. This game featured some slick play by the Falcons as they jumped out to an early lead with their not quite 10 foot hoops and their size 7 game ball (that's too big). Thompson got strong efforts from Nishaan and Matt. P. along the way, but it wasn't enough against a strong team. We get a rematch with those very same Falcons very soon as they come to Thompson on Monday. Final score 48-23 for Ferris.
